why fukushima kids need protection
the japanese government, the company that owns the flailing and toxic nuclear power plant at fukushima, and even the iaea seem not to care that the children of japan will be exposed to unsafe levels of various types of radiation from now on.
they have 'raised' the level considered 'safe' of these radioactive substances. but that little bit of politics doesn't raise the body's level of immunity to damage.
once can only hope that the sacrifice of their future health, and the spectacle of the present disaster may lead some to realize that nuclear energy is not really sustainable.
after all, who ever heard of a solar panel meltdown? or a wind farm disaster?
the world needs to realize that nuclear energy doesn't make sense when you realise all the troubling elements of what goes into boiling the water that is the generator for the electricity.
there's mining the heavy metals, resources that often require a geo-political polka (or war) to lay hands on.
there's the fact that, like oil, these metals aren't renewable.
there's the tendency of corporations to overlook safety concerns as a means to their profit margin.
there's the thousands of years of toxicity of the by products of nuclear energy and the fact that the more we make of nuclear waste, the more chance of disaster.
then there's natural disasters which cannot even be calculated while formulating equations..
all of our tomorrows will contain an element of danger because of the nuclear waste already in storage, and because of the nuclear powered plants still in operation. Einstein is probably *face palm* and saying "idiots!"
